Waterjet technology

The waterjet technology allows, through the emission of a very-high pressure and speed jet of water, up to 6200 bar, to cut a very wide range of materials, whether they are metallic such as titanium, brass, copper, stainless steel etc.. or made of other materials such as glass, marble, ceramic, plastic, rubber, leather, carbon fibers, etc..
The jet is obtained thanks to a small flow of water forced through a calibrated and very thin nozzle, normally with a diameter between 0,1 and 0,4 mm. The pressure of the jet turns the water, which reaches a speed four times higher than speed of sound, into a real blade capable of cutting almost all the materials from a few tenths of a millimeter up to 250 mm thickness with accuracy to the tenth of millimeter.
Usually, for the hardest materials, the waterjet is also supplemented with scouring powder (natural or synthetic); this technology is known as Abrasive Water Jet (AWJ).
The waterjet cutting centres are usually equipped with a CNC system which ensures an high quality and automatic management of the operational functions and precisions and can be futher combined with a CAD CAM system.
Belotti S.p.A. is specialized in the production of 3 and 5 axis waterjet cutting centers both with abrasive powder system or with pure water. The purpose is to provide a milling center able to increase the production of the customers: waterjet technology allows to process various materials with high precision and rapidity and, minimizing the effect of the heat, it is possible to avoid the possible deformations due to thermal and mechanical stresses. The low percentage of scrap and the minimum tool use make this technique very economic as well as low environmental impact.
