Huge success for the first Belotti Tech Day, the technical event dedicated to the machining of honeycomb components for the aerospace industry.
Organized in collaboration with key technology partners—Tebis Italia, Siemens, SoniCut and Neuhäuser—the event took place on Wednesday, May 14 at the Belotti Innovation Hub in Modena and marked the start of a series of training and networking initiatives promoted by the company to showcase the most advanced hardware and software solutions for machining composite and high-performance materials.
The day focused on “Honeycomb machining for the aerospace industry: precision milling and ultrasonic cutting technologies”, explored through a rich schedule of technical presentations and live demos on Belotti CNC centers.
With strong attendance from professionals of leading Italian and international companies, the event drew not only specialists from the aerospace industry, but also players from the automotive, marine, and pattern and mould making sectors—confirming the relevance and cross-industry potential of the technologies showcased.
Technical presentations and live demos on Belotti CNC machining centers
The event featured both technical presentations and live demos, offering a broad overview of the latest hardware and software solutions for machining aramid paper honeycomb—a material widely used in aerospace due to its excellent strength-to-weight ratio.
Discussion points ranged from high-performance milling tools to ultrasonic cutting systems, from CAD/CAM programming to virtualization strategies and digital twin creation for ex ante verification of machining strategy and process.
Each partner company session addressed specific topics:
- “Milling tools selection & performance analysis for honeycomb applications” | Neuhäuser – Nils Fiedler, Application Engineer
- “Optimization of honeycomb ultrasonic cutting combined with milling process” | SoniCut – Andreas Schoch, CEO
- “Advanced aerospace solutions: optimizing honeycomb material machining with Tebis technologies” | Tebis Italia – Sergio Ferrero, Sales Area Manager and Roberto Giovara, Sales Area Trimming & Laser
- “Machine Virtualization” | Siemens S.p.A. – Fabio Comi, Business Developer for Digitization
Live demos on the Belotti NESTING 3016 (3-axis) and FLU 2617 (5-axis) CNC centers showed technologies in action, giving attendees hands-on exposure to their capabilities.
Strong attendance and upcoming event
The enthusiasm and interest shown by participants confirmed the value of the initiative, both for its highly specialized content and for the chance to engage directly with technical experts.
“We are extremely pleased with the outcome of this first Tech Day,” said Eleonora Marino, Marketing & Communication Manager at Belotti SpA. “Events like this are essential to strengthening the dialogue with clients and partners and discussing the technologies shaping the future of advanced manufacturing.”
Given the success of this first edition, Belotti is already organizing the next Tech Day, focusing on carbon fiber component machining and assembly technologies.
