For its 40th anniversary, Belotti has produced a documentary in collaboration with Drive Experience, the creative media team led by Davide Cironi, to retrace the history and evolution of composite technologies—and in particular carbon fiber—in the world of sports cars and supercars.
In 2019, Belotti SpA celebrated its 40th anniversary in the development and production of advanced cutting machines for composite materials, light alloys, and plastics. Belotti’s core business is represented by its 3‑ and 5‑axis CNC machining centers for the automotive, aerospace, railway, and marine sectors. Internationally renowned brands in the luxury and high‑end automotive market, as well as in motorsport, choose Belotti solutions to manufacture components for their cars with extreme precision, ensuring performance on track and on the road. This key combination of performance and passion is a fundamental part of Belotti’s DNA and reflects its strong connection with the racing and automotive world. For this reason, the company decided to fulfill a small dream to celebrate its 40 years: creating a documentary capable of telling the passionate and surprising story of composite materials in sports cars and supercars.
“Lords of Carbon” is the title of the branding and heritage project commissioned by Belotti SpA and directed by Davide Cironi. The strong passion for engines shared by Umberto Belotti, CEO of Belotti SpA, and this young producer and content creator—who has over 90 million views on YouTube and a community of around 350,000 people—is the foundation of the collaboration. Over the past year, the Drive Experience crew traveled across Europe to meet some of the greatest figures in the history of sports cars and supercars. The result is a collective work in which viewers can listen to real, lived stories from some of the most influential individuals who shaped the industry, especially those who introduced and applied composite materials for the first time or in highly innovative ways. The documentary’s past‑present‑future timeline follows the accounts of designers, engineers, and founders of major brands and companies such as Dallara, Gordon Murray Design, Lamborghini, and Pagani within the international automotive establishment, as well as Koenigsegg and Rimac as part of the pioneering new generation pushing the boundaries of today’s composite technologies. CPC Group and Formaplex also appear among the highly qualified and well‑known system suppliers and subcontractors. The narrative is enriched by the voice of Jean Alesi, offering the perspective of an experienced Formula 1 driver.
The documentary will be online starting Wednesday, November 4th, 2020 at 7:00 PM on Davide Cironi’s YouTube channel, and will be promoted across all Drive Experience and Belotti social media platforms. “We hope this documentary reaches as many viewers as possible and excites not only car enthusiasts, because it is a true story built on positive values. Many of us know—or may be fascinated by—the history of racing and supercars, but not many have the chance to discover the anecdotes and behind‑the‑scenes stories. With Davide, we really wanted to create a friendly atmosphere where these important figures could feel free to share episodes from their real, lived experiences. We hope that, while watching it, people can feel this sensation—as if they were sitting in front of Gordon Murray, Giampaolo Dallara, or Horacio Pagani themselves,” says Serena Rigon, Marketing & Communications Manager at Belotti SpA.
